James was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from Terry Parker Sr. High School in 2004. He began his undergraduate studies at Tallahassee Community College where he was the editor of the student newspaper, the Talon. He received an Associate in Arts Degree for General Studies in December 2007. In January 2008, James transferred to Florida State University and majored in Interdisciplinary Social Science with concentrations in political science, geography and public administration. He was vice president of the Inter-Residence Hall Counsel and a member of the World Affairs Program. James interned at the Florida State Capitol - House of the Senate and worked seasonally at the campus bookstore. James graduated from FSU in 2008 with a Bachelor's of Arts Degree in Social Science. He is a member of the FSU Alumni Association and a supporter of the FSU Foundation.
James's first job after college was a leasing agent at a chain of apartments in Panama City, Florida. He later accepted a position with the United States Census Bureau to work on the 2010 Census. James re-enrolled at FSU to study philosophy and began preparing for a career in law. In May 2011, James returned to Jacksonville, Florida and started law school at Florida Coastal School of Law. He was a Florida Coastal legacy student because his mother, Carol M. Galloway, Esquire graduated from Florida Coastal in 2001. James excelled in international law courses and studied abroad in Saigon, Vietnam in the summer of 2012. He also represented other law students in the Student Bar Association. During his last year of law school, James interned at James Krause, P.A. where he assisted the managing attorney on federal contracts cases. James graduated from law school in May 2013 and began working at the Law Offices of Carol M. Galloway, P.A. as the office manager and then an associate attorney in April 2014.
On his first day as a licensed attorney, James began accepting clients through the Jacksonville Area Legal Aid. Most of his clients needed assistance with immigration paperwork, so James began studying U.S immigration law. He successfully assisted several clients complete the naturalization process and attended their Naturalization ceremonies. In 2015, James started the Immigration Law Division at the Law Offices of Carol M. Galloway, P.A. where he handled the firm's immigration cases. In additional to naturalization, James helped clients petition for immigrant visas, visa extensions, apply for an adjustment of status, petition to remove conditions on residence, apply to replace lost permanent resident cards, fiancée visas and asylum.
In July 2017, James established the Galloway Law Firm of Ponte Vedra Beach, PLLC and expanded his areas of practice beyond family based immigration. James currently handles employment sponsored immigration cases, including: EB-5 Investor Visas, L-1A Intercompany Executive and Manager, EB-1 Extraordinary Ability Visas, and H1-B and EB-3 Skilled Workers. James also represents his clients with family law matters, including: adoption by stepparent, dissolution of marriage, dissolution of marriage, and supplemental petitions to modify time-sharing, alimony and child support. James also handles estate planning cases, including: enhanced life estates, warranty deeds, wills, advance healthcare directives, probate and powers of attorney. Lastly, James handles civil litigation matters regarding civil rights, personal injury, land use development and contracts.
James is a member of the Florida Bar and the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is an honorary, alumni initiate in the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and the legal adviser for the Eta Psi Chapter at the University of Central Florida. James is also a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association and the St. Johns County Bar Association. He is a supporter of the Florida Bar Foundation.
